Fossil sales: win-win on a commission basis

Fossils, collections, estates for sale

Would you like to have your fossils sold on proof? Whether at a trade fair, auction or on the Internet: A sale on a commission basis in your name offers maximum transparency. I would be happy to use my contacts and advise you on your sale.

Fossil Brokerage expertise

Years of market knowledge

Proven for many years

Competence

The fossil market is "teeming" with fakes, offered with misinformation, and the nature and extent of any restorations are often concealed. Buyers are reluctant to purchase high-priced fossils from private individuals or auction platforms without any warranty.

Trust

The option of attaching an appraisal with proof of authenticity to the fossil for sale not only creates trust and transparency, but also demonstrably increases value and promotes sales.

Security

The seller may rely on the expertise of an intermediary service provider such as Fossiland, which is liable for deliberately inaccurate or concealed information.

Trust is good, control is better?

Imagine offering an ichthyosaur for sale, receiving an offer and seeing a supposedly comparable specimen offered elsewhere for twice the price? There may be good reasons for this, but ultimately you want the certainty of selling your fossil at a reasonable price.

If you prefer maximum transparency in the sale, we recommend a sales brokerage on a commission basis. In this case, the sale will take place at an agreed sales price in your name and for your account.

As an alternative to a direct purchase, I recommend this procedure in particular for especially valuable pieces and estates, especially from Holzmaden. In addition to the quality of the individual specimens or collections, the relatively “narrow” market for fossils requires your willingness to adapt your sales to the conditions of the market. For the Brokerage of an ichthyosaur, for example, this means that you should plan a period of approx. 6-12 months in order to achieve an optimal result.

Fossil Brokerage #1

Fossil Auction

Sometimes sensational sales results can be achieved at auctions, especially for high-priced and aesthetic fossils (“prestigeous fossils”).

However, the consignor’s sales proceeds are significantly lower. The costs for transportation and the risk of not selling must also be taken into account.

This offer for fossil Brokerage is aimed at customers who are prepared to take risks for special opportunities.

Fossil Brokerage #2

Fossil fair

Realistic sales results can be achieved at fossil fairs.

At the Fossil Fair near Stuttgart and the fair in Saint-Marie-aux Mines I will have a stand where I can offer your fossils.

Fossil Shop

Online trading via the store reaches the largest audience and offers very good sales opportunities at a fixed price.

For high-priced fossils, informative photos and a reliable description of the fossil’s condition are essential.

Criteria for fossil Brokerage

The following criteria are decisive for Brokerage by Fossiland:

  • high-quality fossils, preferably from Holzmaden, Solnhofen and Messel
  • outstanding quality, few or no restorations, no pyrite infestation
  • Preparation of a valuation report to determine the sales price
  • Exclusive marketing for a period of at least 12 months

How you can have your fossils sold

If you are interested in Brokerage, please contact me. My offer is usually based on your photos. These do not have to be professional, but should be sharp. The best thing to do is to send an email to info@fossiland.de and attach your photos or upload them to the cloud (e.g. Wetransfer or Dropbox). Or even easier: you send me photos via WhatsApp. I usually get back to you within 48 hours.

If I am interested (and have free capacity), an inspection and an appraisal including a condition report (suitable for consignment to a special auction) are essential. In this case, you will receive a binding Brokerage offer from Fossiland, which you can check at your leisure. If you do not accept the offer, you are under no obligation whatsoever.

I charge an expense allowance for advertising your fossil. This, as well as the valuation, will be deducted from the commission upon sale. The commission fee agreed with you in advance is only payable if the sale is successful. Any sale will be made in your name and for your account; you remain the owner until payment has been received from the buyer.

Fossiland knows the market and its environment and is able to develop a suitable marketing strategy together with you in individual cases and to “test” the market for you. We look after reserved customers especially for fossils from Holzmaden.

Satisfied customers

In addition to companies and private individuals, estate curators and auction houses also trust Fossiland’s expertise and fairness when buying and selling fossils.
